Fruit Smoothie
Wow! I wish I'd have thought of this sooner! What a treat. I placed a couple of very small cans of peaches in the freezer for just over an hour to freeze.
Then I emptied the frozen peaches & juice into the blender, added a little bit of skim milk & (I confess) sugar - a teaspoon or so. You could certainly use artificial sweetener of course. And I added about 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla to the mix.
Blend and enjoy. This made two glassfuls. We used spoons.
I'm already thinking of different canned fruits (or combinations) and flavorings to use. What sounds good to YOU?

Make sure you use canned fruit in its own juice and NOT in syrup ( which are most ), or it will be for naught. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Gina!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of doing it that way! I still have one qt. of frozen strawberries left from last season and maybe I'll make some smoothies for us tomorrow. I usually add a banana and ICE CREAM! But I'll trying using the skim milk instead. Adding vanilla sounds great...and I have some Stevia here in the house I'll use.
ReplyDeleteWe have recently been on a smoothy kick, too! I add yogurt(frozen) instead of the milk to apple juice and (frozen)fruit ~ YUM!
ReplyDeleteNever thought to use frozen canned fruit ~ great idea!
Yum! What a refreshing and nutritious treat!
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over! ;)
This would be a refreshing and healthy option instead of an icecream or milkshake. Yum! Frozen berries are good in smoothies too. Banana makes them very sweet and creamy, you probably wouldn't need sugar.

ReplyDeleteI love using any kind of fresh fruit, yogart and skim milk.....the great thing there are so many different ways to make them.....
I would probably go with the plain old strawberry-banana type smoothie.......with a chocolate straw.
ReplyDeleteI make them with a little bit of (lemonade or fruity)Crystal Light and frozen fruit I buy in a big bag at Aldi or Walmart....delicious!!
