Boring but Blessed!

I was feeling pretty depressed while looking at all the deliciously prepared and attractively served food eaten by some of my blogger friends this past week. I thought to myself, "I'm ONE person who for MANY reasons won't be posting what WE are eating.

You see, by comparison, we're sort of boring here. However, we did go out to one of our favorite restaurants today. It was mid-afternoon and we were the only ones there. So I asked the chef if he'd fix salmon off the dinner menu for me. He agreed, and it was delicious. My husband had one of the specials - seafood lasagna. Equally impressive!

We both came home with 1/2 of our portion leftover. We'll enjoy it tomorrow with some fresh sweet corn and tomatoes and some of cantaloupe from Donna's garden.

Now that I think about it, that's not so shabby after all!

Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the world so sweet.
Thank you for the birds that sing.
Thank you, God, for everything.

  3. Rebecca, I love salmon and have it for dinner at least once a week. Being brought up in The Maritimes one had to love fish or we would of starved.
Your meals sound wonderful my friend, not boring at all.
    Have a great day........:-) Hugs

  4. You're All correct! This is NOT boring. LADY FARMER & M, the salmon was prepared VERY well. I can't remember the herb in the butter, but there were grilled orange & red peppers on top of the butter....BERNIE, I'd love to have salmon once a week and come pretty close. It is a little pricey here, but worth it to me. It's even expensive to buy in the meat department...and so far I've not fixed it myself.

  5. I think your eating habits are NOT boring! But I know how you feel about comparing yourself to others, my eating habits are HORRIBLE compared to everyone else in the village! I make all the wrong choices over and over, and I'm a carb addict! And I find no motivation to change. I know that I should have a healthy diet, I know it would help me to lose weight, but I would much rather eat bread, pasta, and junk food than eat veggies or fruit! I'd much rather drink a cup of coffee than a glass of water!
You, my friend, make very wise choices! I think you have a lot to be proud of!
    All the best,
    Eieen

  6. Mmmmm, sounds like a perfect meal.
The little prayer at the end was precious to me. I said it as a child and had totally forgotten it. Thank you!

  7. Hi Rebecca, Actually the fresh tomatoes and cantaloupe you've pictured are some of my favorite seasonal foods. We're pretty simple with meal plans, too - usually a protein and a salad suit us just fine. I must admit to a sweet tooth, though! PS Is that a photo of you on the bike?

  8. Barb, I agree - Summer is GREAT for satisfying & tasty foods! Yes, that IS me standing with my bike. I'm not a serious bike rider - just ride it around our small town...to post office or run errands.

  9. Love salmon, Rebecca! I would love to tell you that I have made a lot of progress in this weight control thing but i haven't. My excuse has been I am so busy with the gardening, canning and lets not forget the grandchildren here, They have all gone now and i have no excuse! Loved the post on making hay. Please pray for me to get more motivated.
    Blessings,
    Sue
