Determined not to eat last night, I finally went to bed early. It was the only way I could master the urge.
Unfortunately, that meant I'm awake at 2:30 a.m. and unable to go back to sleep...
I'm open to suggestions about managing before-bedtime-eating.
I struggle with this too Rebecca. One thing that works for me is I keep a container of pretzels next to my bed. Before I go to sleep I eat five or six, sometimes ten if I'm really hungry. They are fat free and enough to keep me full through the night. Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteWe have pretzels, Di! I have saltless ones around for Gary to munch on! Thanks for the idea.
DeleteWhat has worked for me Rebecca is having some sliced peeled apples. Sometimes one or two. I feel absolutely amazing the next morning.
ReplyDeleteAngela, You'll understand when I say evenings are "outside my window". I'm fairly legalistic when it comes to my window :) Up to now - no problem. But, boy-o-boy! Last night was WAR!
DeleteRebecca, I find it helps me to have a cup of decaf herbal tea.
ReplyDeleteNow that could work for me! I'm not a huge tea drinker, but this might be something to try. (I see Maria drinks peppermint tea before bed....hmmmmm).
DeleteI drink peppermint tea before bed, this truly relaxes me and keeps me from snacking! :)
ReplyDeleteI am on a grain free eating plan now, so my cravings are quite fierce...so far, the tea is helping.
Peace be with you Rebecca,
maria
I'm going to check my stash, Maria. I'll be prepared next time the the night-time temptation strikes!
DeleteI love this blog of yours Rebecca...honestly I have never checked it out but will certainly be back! The best diet advice I ever read was from Dr. Phil.."Don't bring the enemy home"....It is amazing to me what we put in our bodies and call it food...I don't think "skinny"...I think "healthy" ..but I do like the window idea..
ReplyDeleteI can't drink the peppemint tea before bedtime because it gives me heartburn...but I do often enjoy taking a hot cup of camomile upstairs with me. There is another one called "throat coat" by Traditinal Medicinals that I've been using while I've been sick that is very tasty and seems to help relax my irritated throat.
