I don't do Lent but I find it a nice concept. For myself, instead of taking away anything I'm seeking to add spiritually. I'm focusing on memorizing scripture.

CINDY, I don't do Lent either in the sense that some "do". I was not raised in a church that even used the word. As an adult, I've done some study to appreciate the emphasis and have "kidnapped" the focus as inspiration similar to New Year's resolutions to remind me of the grace and love of God invested in me and to recommit myself to obedience to His Word and holy living.

Rebecca's note: I have trouble with "deserve". I want to care for my body because God Himself cares for it! Do I "deserve" health? No, in light of my sinful inclinations and the fall of mankind, health is a gift. A GRACE-gift directly from the hand of God--a gift to be handled thankfully and thoughtfully.
