Day 4 - 30 Minutes, No Matter What!

It was harder to get out of bed this morning. So, after our children and grandchildren left, I began my walk. I walked the long way to the Post Office, then around a couple of blocks and 10 minutes "in place" in the house. It wasn't the original plan, but it was 30 minutes of movement. One day to go until I have fulfilled my goal of 5 days out of 7 - 30 minutes per day.

With God's help, I have been eating wisely - mainly fruit and vegetables. In fact, this morning I had some mulberries fresh from our backyard tree with some plain yogurt. Yummy!

Mulberries contains low amount of saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium while quite high in vitamin C, Vitamin K, Magnesium, Potassium, and Iron. Eating mulberries regularly helps you in maintaining good health and losing weight. Therefore, those looking to gain weight are advised against eating mulberries.

Mulberries are also a rich source of resveratrol, which is a compound with anti-cancer properties. Mulberries contain lots of anthocyanins, which guard against cardiovascular diseases. The fruit has also proven ability to fight with harmful virus and bacteria.

A Japanese study indicates that mulberry powder, if included as dietary supplement, helps in preventing diabetes.

The best thing about eating mulberries is they make a healthy snack that also taste good, and provides you several health benefits if consumed regularly.

  1. Dear Rebecca,

What a treat to be able to eat of the fruit of our labors. Those mulberries look delicious and with yogurt, yum. Thank you for sharing about their nutritional value. I don't think I've ever seen mulberries being sold around here. I'll have to check the health food stores maybe they have them.

  2. Dear Rebecca,

You are doing a great job. I know how it feels to sometimes not want to get out of bed. I see you usually get up quite early in the morning, before the sunrise. Wow, that would be hard for me to do. I admire your commitment and perseverance. Is there any particular reason you rise so early?

I have become a follower and will visit quite frequently to receive encouragement and hopefully give encouragement.

    I'm glad we have met.

Many blessings to you, my sister in Christ.

  3. For most of my life I've been an early riser (which also means I get to bed fairly early). For instance, it was a late week-day night last night - going to bed around 10:30... I get more done in the first 2 hours of the morning than I do the rest of the day, I think! Coffee, journaling, and the prospect of reflection and prayer are worth getting up for - for me.

  4. Oh dear friend, that is exactly the reason why I get up so early! So far, I have been waking up with you dear friend ;) 5:00am for the past 4 days. I wanted to see if I could do it...so far so good. I do the same thing, prayer, reading God's word then everyone begins to wake up. My cup of coffee comes around 9:00am and boy do I look forward to it at that time ;)

    many blessings dear friend,
